Who We Are

Kemp & Denning Limited (K&D) is an unlisted public company.

K&D commenced operation as a small timber merchant business, established in 1902 by Andrew Kemp & Victor Denning

The Companies main activities are:

• Merchandising of timber, building materials, hardware and home related products.
• Manufacturer and seller of fired clay bricks and blocks

The company operates throughout Tasmania.

K&D opened Australia's first Home and Building retail Warehouse in Hobart in October 1986. A second warehouse store was opened in Glenorchy, a suburb of Hobart in 1996. A third warehouse store was opened at Cambridge in March 2008. In January 2010 a Trade Outlet was opened in Kingston.

In March 2011 the business of Brewster was purchased which has Trade outlets in both Hobart and Launceston.

Sales Turnover in the financial year ending May 2011 was $A87.39 million.

K&D is a member of Mitre 10 Australia Limited, Natbuild Trade buying group and Plumbing Plus buying group.

The company employs more than 300 staff.
