K&D, on the 17 September 2010, announced its plans to establish a $5 million K&D Warehouse Mitre 10 and K&D Trade Centre at the new Devonport Homemaker Centre.

K&D managing director Peter Geard said the Devonport K&D Warehouse Mitre 10 and K&D Trade Centre will provide a new model to North-West Coast consumers.

“K&D is extremely excited to partner Harvey Norman again with other major interstate and Tasmanian retailers at the Devonport Homemaker Centre,” Mr Geard said.

“K&D will employ some 40 staff in our Devonport centre, which will take our statewide staff total to more than 300."

Mr Geard said opening a K&D Centre on the North-West Coast was the next stage of K&D’s statewide strategy.

K&D has already established a business at the Cambridge Homemaker Centre beside Hobart Airport.

K&D is the first Tasmanian hardware company to do business in the north and south.

“K&D is a Tasmanian company – not just a southern Tasmanian company,'' Mr Geard added.

"This is a natural progression for us. We have got our model right and are set to compete with the multinationals on a statewide basis.”

Last month K&D launched its statewide online catalogue, delivering door-to-door statewide.
